About the AuthorMarianne Carlson graduated Summa cum Laude in 1997 from the University of Maryland (European Division) with a BS in Information Systems Management. Since then, she has managed a diverse career in Information Technology and Web Design. She served as the Computer Support and Training Coordinator for the Vermont Judiciary, then took a position with the US Army in Germany, where she worked as a Computer Specialist. Returning to America, she remained with the Army, working as a Web Designer at the US Military Academy at West Point. |

Marianne's career as a US Army Civilian was highlighted by a six-month deployment to Iraq in 2003, where she served as the IT Security Officer for a unit of over 20,000 soldiers, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Today, Marianne and her husband Don own and operate Emcie Media, a company specializing in website design and other visual communications. This business affords her the opportunity to pursue her passions for web design, writing, and public speaking.
